Like it or not we have been and are living in a vast diverse country. The fact is evident as you look at the makeup of the United States of America - 50 separate and distinct states.
Here are a few fun facts according to the 2010 census:
Most Populous State; California with 37,253,956 people
Least Populous State; Wyoming with 563,626 people
Our least state Wyoming has 0.015 the population of our most state California.
Largest State Gross Domestic Product 1,891,363($ Millions) in California
Smallest State Gross Domestic Product 25,438 ($ Millions) in Vermont
Our smallest state Vermont has 0.013 the GDP of our largest state California.
Point being we have varied interests as separate states with different geography, cultures, people, industries,economic drivers,etc. Now transfer these differences to individuals and you can see my point. So the time has come for us to become more tolerant to reality and to begin thinking about ourselves as part of something greater than self, family unit, community, state, political party, country. We need to understand the reality of the complexity which is the United States of America.
In order for us to grow as a nation, we need to get back to some basics; look to our Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed”
Will you allow our political class divide us?
Will you allow the political class pit one state against another state, against a third state?
Our political class maintain their power base using contributions from National and Multi-National Corporations.
Do you support a "race to the bottom" where Corporate America moves business and commerce to the state and country with the least protections of and for the people?
Supreme Court 5 to 4 Ruling in the "Citizens United" case have watered down our constitutional freedoms.
We are not the Divided States of America; we are THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA!
